This facility offers new adventures for campers, high ropes, low ropes, 200 acres of hiking trails, organic farming, big swimming pools, and super comfortable accommodations. Furthermore, this campsite is centrally located for our many of our campers, only 40 minutes north of Toronto!

The staff-to-camper ratio is at minimum of 1 staff member to 10 campers. So, with our maximum of 80 campers we will have a minimum of 10 counsellors.

Veg Eco Camp is hosted by the YMCA Cedar Glen, Schomberg, Ontario. YMCA Cedar Glen instructors and lifeguards are all First Aid and CPR-C certified. Ropes challenge courses are run by YMCA trained and certified staff.

Awesome! Campers will be sleeping in groups of 4, in bedrooms with a private bathroom and shower. The bedrooms are located within a large lodge. Male and female campers will use separate wings of the lodge. Campers sleep on comfortable bunk beds. Waterproof mattresses are provided, campers need to bring their own bedding and pillows.
Parents/guardians are welcome to do a quick walk around of the campsite after helping their children settle into their cabins at drop-off.
No, the Veg Eco Camp is a not a religious camp. Learning how to increase peace within oneself (yoga and meditation) or how to foster peace in the outside world through environmental awareness, humanitarianism and animal compassion are relevant and meaningful for all youth.
A doctor is not on site, but we have two on call 24/7 during the entire camp.
Professional chefs prepare all the food to be nutritious, nut-free, 100% vegetarian, 100% vegan-friendly and 100% kid-approved! Meals such as veggie burgers with corn on the cob or vegan burritos with stir-fried rice satisfy all types of eaters!
Occasionally, homesickness may be an issue for some campers especially as they are adjusting to the camp schedule and meeting new people. Our experienced and dedicated staff help campers adjust by creating an inclusive, friendly, family-like atmosphere at camp. We provide clear and open communication, play many introductory and trust-building games which encourage friendships among campers, and check-in with campers regularly throughout the day and over mealtimes. Each camper is also assigned to a specific counselor who is attentive to their individual needs. Further, camp staff meets daily to discuss any camper-related concern and works together to better the camper’s experience. This approach has minimized homesickness amongst our campers and at the end of camp, campers often are not ready to go home!
We play! Most of our outdoor activities continue even in the rain. However our programming can easily be adapted for the indoors if needed. We ask campers to be prepared for all types of weather.

Vegetarian Eco Camp is less expensive than the majority of overnight summer camps on the market.  We are able to keep low camper fees because all TA administrators and instructors are dedicated volunteers. The organization is also not-for-profit. We pass these savings on to campers, thus making summer camp accessible to more youth while maintaining a high standard of quality. Camp subsidies may be available for those that require it. Please contact us for more details.

Vegetarian Eco Camp is organized by a non-profit organization called Towards Ahimsa Inc.. Ahimsa is an ancient Sanskrit word which means non-violence in thought, speech and action. At camp, this translates into engaging sessions on animal welfare, critical consumption, environmental consciousness, peaceful relationships, nature appreciation, mindfulness and self-awareness.
